L’ACADEMIE @ LA CLOSERIE

La Closerie les Capucines, Neal’s charming maison d’hotes in the Jura, plays home to an immersive food and wine experience for both guests and industry professionals with the L’Académie program. This program is completely customizable and can be tailored to your preferences.

L’Académie for Guests

With La Closerie les Capucines as your base, we invite you to experience the Jura’s centuries-old culture of food and wine with a magical 3-day immersion into this largely undiscovered region of France.

Wine-lovers will delight in visits to the vineyards and cellars of the Jura’s most acclaimed producers, enriched with personal anecdotes and vivid stories in a range of unique settings.

Try your hand at artisanal chocolate craftsmanship, the French culinary arts or classic breadmaking with demonstrations led by renowned local experts. The outdoors calls with gusto as we invite you to experience nature as only the Jura can offer.

Hike or cycle the foothills of the Jura mountains with our experienced local guides, past lush farms and ancient fortresses before soothing your senses at the end of each day with a relaxing massage or sauna session back at La Closerie les Capucines.

L’Academie for Wine Professionals

Over the course of three days, you will meet with leading producers in the Jura selected for their skills as vignerons and their adherence to the grand traditions of this esteemed and unique wine-growing region.

Visit, talk and taste with seven different producers including Jacques Puffeney, Michel Gahier and Domaine de Montbourgeau, whose wines are loyal to the methods of their ancestors and do not make concessions to the demands of the modern market. These classic wines honor the past while setting standards for the future.

Each day begins with hearty breakfast before morning visits to the producers.

Lunch will be a robust gathering around a local table with a series of wines from the region’s growers. In the afternoon, the winery and vineyard visits resume until our return to La Closerie les Capucines late in the day for a brief rest, sauna or massage.

Dinner each evening will be in Arbois, prepared by the area’s Michelin-starred chefs and fine local masters. Of course, each meal will be accompanied by a robust selection of wines from the area – and perhaps a few from Burgundy and elsewhere, drawn from La Closerie’s bountiful cellar
