Our journey takes us through Provence to its less frequented side revealing a world abundant with stimuli for all the senses: wine and food, art and nature, sea and hills, countryside and city. This is one of our favorite parts of France, and we are excited to share our updated and upgraded flagship Journey here to include a foray into the Southern Rhône. This is not the Provence you think you know, rather it is filled with visits off-piste to discover the hidden gems of this rich and varied region.
Our days in the Southern Rhône will include visits with Neal's growers in Châteauneuf-de-Pape, Gigondas and Beaumes de Venise, then we plunge into the rustic pleasures of the Camargue with its bullfighting tradition, the art-centric city of Arles; and, of course, we don’t forget the pleasures of the sea, exploring the “calanques” surrounding the fishing village of Cassis and the formidable winegrowers of the region.
8 days / 7 nights.

A Different Provence
The journey begins in the Mediterranean port city of Marseille and moves to the Camargue, the French ‘Wild West,” with its cowboys who herd the fighting bulls, migrating birds, salt marshes, and a long and complex local history. The adventure continues to the magical fishing village of Cassis and the Bandol region where you will visit vineyards and cellars and gain a deeper understanding of the effect the sea has on wine production of this area. Then to the Southern Rhône for a few days discovering the wines and ancient vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and tasting with Neal’s growers here. We finish in Arles, an ancient Roman ville, the land of Van Gogh, and now a jewel of a city for contemporary art and culture.
